Cookie Policy

The Frank Investments website, like many websites, uses cookies to run the content management system and to collect anonymous visitor data. In keeping with recent legislation, we are making users more aware of these cookies and providing links to help visitors decline or remove cookies.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of text sent to your browser when you visit a site. They serve a variety of functions, like enabling us to remember certain information you provide to us as you navigate between pages on the Services. We use cookies on the website for the following purposes:

  • Authentication, Customization, Security and Other Functional Cookies. Cookies help us verify your Account and device and determine when you’re logged in, so we can make it easier for you to access the Services and provide the appropriate experiences and features. We also use cookies to help prevent fraudulent use of login credentials and to remember choices you’ve made on the Services, such as your language preference.
  • Performance And Analytics. Cookies help us analyze how the Services are being accessed and used, and enable us to track performance of the Services. For example, we use cookies to determine if you viewed a page or opened an email. This helps us provide you with information that you find interesting.
  • Third Parties. Third Party Services may use cookies to help you sign into their services from our Services. Any such third party cookie usage is governed by the policy of the third party placing the cookie.
  • Opting Out. You can set your browser to not accept cookies, but this may limit your ability to use the Services. We currently don’t respond to DNT:1 signals from browsers visiting our Services. You can also opt out of receiving interest-based ads from certain ad networks here (or if located in the European Union, here).

Third Party Tags. We use and manage third party tags on the website. Third party tags may take the form of pixels or tracking snippets. We use pixels to learn how you interact with our site pages and emails, and this information helps us and our ad partners provide you with a more tailored experience. We use tracking snippets to capture data from your browser, make requests to a third party partner or set cookies on your device to store data. We use Google Tag Manager to manage our third party tag usage. This may cause other tags to be activated which may, for their part, collect data and set cookies under certain circumstances. Google Tag Manager does not store this data.

Session cookie (reflect). This cookie is ‘strictly necessary’ for the site to function. This is a session cookie that is integral to the code that runs the content management system. It only lasts for the duration of a user’s visit to the website. A web browser normally deletes session cookies when it quits.

Google Analytics cookies. We employ: utma, utmb, utmz, and utmc. These are performance cookies. We collect them anonymously and assessing the data they provide allows the site to be improved. Google provides details of all the cookies used by Google Analytics. By using the website, you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your device.

What personal data do we collect for subscribers

We need to know basic personal data (e.g your name, email address) in order to provide you with the Frank Investments news and market commentary. If you do not provide this information then we will be unable to provide the emails you have requested.

Our marketing communications consist of the market commentary and Frank Investments’ news. For this purpose we use MailChimp (owned by Intuit). Intuit’s Privacy Policy describes what personal data it processes and how it uses it. MailChimp processes your data in accordance with its privacy policy. MailChimp are certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework which is being updated under negotiations between the US and the EU. They store data in the US. Accordingly, the personal data you share with us will be transferred to their secure servers in the US. MailChimp’s privacy shield certification permits this transfer in accordance with GDPR. You may contact MailChimp directly here to request access to information that MailChimp may hold about you. As a client, your contact information is put onto the MailChimp system, so that we can keep in contact with you.

We collect personally identifiable information that is voluntarily provided by subscribers to our email newsletters. This user data includes name, email address, IP address (which are not personally identifiable) and details of the clicks on links in our newsletters. MailChimp uses technologies such as pixels and web beacons that allow us to track whether you have opened and then clicked on the links in our newsletters. These clicks and the open statistics are used together to give us an indication of the popularity of our content and to help us make decisions about future content and formatting.

We will have to transfer your personal data to MailChimp as described above for the purposes of providing newsletters and marketing communications. Except for that reason all the personal data we hold about you will be processed by us in the United Kingdom unless there is a legal obligation for us to provide them with it.

You can change your browser settings to manage cookies – including opting-out/blocking. The website About Cookies gives browser-specific instructions on how to manage cookies. If you would like to prevent all Google Analytics cookies being set, you may want to install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On. Please note that opting-out or blocking cookies may impair your use of this (and other) websites.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we’ll update the “Effective Date” at the top of the Cookie Policy and post it on our sites. We encourage you to check back periodically to review this Cookie Policy for any changes since your last visit.
